Monica: go. careful.

Monica went to a kitchen window but didn’t hear or see Quinn. She was dizzy, short of breath, and on the verge of passing out. The screen on her phone blurred but confirmed the text was sent one minute earlier. Then she heard the gate latch. Quinn’s head moved casually along the fence line, as if he were just strolling along. He even threw a wave in the air.

She held her chest. Her heart hadn’t raced that hard since her laces hit the pavement. Every muscle in her body was tight and sweat rolled down the dried rivers of sex along her neck. She went into the laundry room where the temperature was cooler and spotted movement along the driveway.

It was Rosa.

Monica gasped.
